Pitcairn Islands


For you who like to learn geography, may seldom or never heard of this place. Pitcairn Islands is a collection of five islands, where the only inhabited island of Pitcairn, which lies on the southern Pacific Ocean, the only British colony in the Pacific. The Island is also a country although not free with a population of at least the world with about 50 residents in 2008. Since the highest population reach 233 in 1937, many of them emigrated, mainly to New Zealand. The major sources of revenue are the sale of postage stamps to collectors, and the sale of handicrafts to passing ships, most of which are plying the United Kingdom to New Zealand route via the Panama Canals. Pitcairn is one of the two world's most remote places inhabited ( after the Tristan da Cunha ). Tristan da Cunha is the most remote inhabited archipelago in the world.
